IKO certified

Kite surfing is an extreme sport with a certain risk. Without knowledge, it is extremely dangerous to be attached to a kite. That is why kite surfing lessons are a must-do.

In 2001, the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO for short) was established to guarantee the quality of the kite schools and kite instructors. They offer training for kite surfing instructors and guarantee safety and up-to-date knowledge of the current kite surfing standard.

Kitesurfing schools with an IKO certificate must meet the standard.

2 Students per instructor

As described above, kite surfing is not entirely without risk. The power of a kite can be enormous and without proper guidance accidents happen.

To maintain an overview as an instructor, a group of 2 people per kite surfing teacher is advisable. Pay attention to this when booking your lesson. Larger groups are at the expense of your practice time with the kite. If the teacher has to watch several people in the water, he or she does not have full attention with the student with the kite.

There are kite surfing schools that give an introduction lesson on land, then you could make an exception and put 3 students in a group at the same time. These introductory lessons with kite surfing are often a bit cheaper than a real lesson.

In your own country or not?
