Kitesurfing spot description
On the Belgian coast you can only kite at a Beach Club. Here it’s Beachclub De Kwinte. Part of Surfclub Westende | Nieuwpoort with a second location (Koko Loco) on the freshwater reservoir of Nieuwpoort.
You buy a day membership for 20 euros. You are then insured for accidents and damage. (this is mandatory in Belgium). Your own extreme sports insurance is therefore not sufficient.
You get access to the accommodation: dressing room, shower, compressor, discount at the bar and most importantly: a ribbon (so-called talis) that you must wear visibly on your harness. If you do not have a ribbon, you are kindly requested to leave the kite spot.
The beach club provides the rescue service with a water scooter, if necessary.
The insertion zone (insteek zone) is indicated at the beach club. Sometimes it is divided into a beginner and advanced zone.
