Blankeberge is one of the most important seaside resorts in the Belgian coastal province of West Flanders with its characteristic pier. On Saturday afternoon, December 8, 2018, Thomas De Wispelaere jumped with a jump of 16.5 meters over a 9-meter high pier.
On the Belgian coast you can only kite at a Beach Club. Here’s that O’Neill Beachclub.
You buy a day membership for 20 euros. You are then insured for accidents and damage. (this is mandatory in Belgium). Your own (Dutch) extreme sports insurance is therefore not sufficient.
You get access to the accommodation: dressing room, shower, compressor, discount at the bar and most importantly: a ribbon (so-called talis) that you must wear visibly on your harness. If you do not have a ribbon, you are kindly requested to leave the kite spot.
The beach club provides the rescue service with a water scooter, if necessary.
The insertion zone (the kite zone) is indicated at the beach club. Sometimes it is divided into a beginner and advanced zone.
