Interview with the unknown kite surfer: Henri Conings
In this section we interview an unknown kite surfer, wherever in the world. This week it’s Henri Conings from Antwerp, Belgium!
1. Where are you from?
Living in Maria-ter-Heide, a district of Brasschaat in Antwerp.
2. How unknown are you?
Unknown I’m only intensively involved with the sport for about 2 years.
3. How did you get involved with kite surfing?
August 2017 were on vacation on the west coast of France.
We saw some kite surfers at work there.
I told my wife I always wanted to do that.
But because of the price tag, in the early years when kite surfing came up, this did not happen. My wife has encouraged the sport. And so it all started.
4. What do your parents think of this addiction?
They never had a lot of say because I have been married for 16 years 😊
My wife always encourages me to go kiteboarding because I always come back tired and satisfied from a session 😉
5. What is your favorite kite surfing spot? Why?
Do not really have a favorite spot, like to come to the Dutch coast but for a short session I always go to my homespot on Oesterdam.
6. What is the first thing you do after your kite session?
Returning home to rinse all my kitegear, I take great care of my stuff, after all it is expensive material.
7. Where do you buy your kitegear and why?
Surfinstyle. I also attended my classes there. Both the monitors, the material and the service there is great !!!
8. What is your favorite beach bar? Why?
I don’t have a chat after the session and then we go home. There is no beach tent on Oesterdam.
9. What do you do next to kite surfing?
Fitness 3 to 4 times a week and play recreational volleyball.
10. What is your kitesurf guilty pleasure?
I don’t have one..
11. Who do you recommend for the next interview with the unknown kite surfer?
Stefan De Bel. I knew that he practiced the sport and that is how I contacted Surfinstyle. I’ve known Stefan since the end of the 90s.
